- 1 pound pizza dough
- 1/4 cup tomato sauce
- 4 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
- 8-10 fresh basil leaves
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a 12-inch circle.
- Place the dough on a pizza stone or baking sheet that has been lightly greased with olive oil.
- Spread the tomato sauce over the pizza dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Arrange the mozzarella cheese slices on top of the sauce.
- Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and sprinkle with fresh basil leaves.
- Drizzle with extra-virgin olive oil and serve hot.
