Recipe for Chicken Parmesan:

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil, chopped (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Place the chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound them with a meat mallet until they are about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, salt, and black pepper.
  4. In another shallow dish, beat the eggs.
  5. In a third shallow dish, mix together the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  6. Dredge each chicken breast in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  7. Dip the chicken into the beaten eggs, then coat it with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing the breadcrumbs onto the chicken to help them adhere.
  8. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  9. Add the chicken to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  10. Transfer the chicken to a baking dish.
  11. Spoon the marinara sauce over the chicken.
  12. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
  13. Bake the chicken for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  14. Garnish with fresh basil, if desired, and serve hot.
