Ingredients:

- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil, chopped (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Place the chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound them with a meat mallet until they are about 1/2 inch thick.
- In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, salt, and black pepper.
- In another shallow dish, beat the eggs.
- In a third shallow dish, mix together the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
- Dredge each chicken breast in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
- Dip the chicken into the beaten eggs, then coat it with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing the breadcrumbs onto the chicken to help them adhere.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the chicken to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Transfer the chicken to a baking dish.
- Spoon the marinara sauce over the chicken.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
- Bake the chicken for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh basil, if desired, and serve hot.
